“Do you want fries with that?…Do you want to super-size that soda?

Just the sound of those questions makes us cringe.

Suggestive selling. Most of us feel it’s part of the evil empire.

But let’s hold on a moment.

Let’s spin this around.

What if the questions were, “would you like to try this new organic dressing with those salad greens – it is super yummy?” or maybe, “would you like to try one of our amazing fresh juices with that sandwich?”

Well now, that sounds better.

Here’s my point.

I think it’s a fair question to ask: Is our negative mindset against “suggestive selling” holding us back from employing the same skills in our stores to what might lead to very positive outcomes for all?

We have great healthy products…people will love them, and we can increase sales at the same time.

At the fast food joint, suggestive selling just creates more of a bad thing.

But we’re in the business to delight!

More of this is a good thing!

Of course, it is an art and you have to know when and where to connect this way.

But are we letting a negative mindset get in the way of us looking at something differently?

I’m just sayen’

Helping customers be aware of some really great products is an excellent service thing to do.

Caring, options, and delighting is about engaging and connection which is what we are all about.
