Here is something to ponder.
I wonder if we are slipping into a mindset where we think, “that is too much to ask of staff, it’s been a tough year, and they can’t handle that right now?”
It is worth noticing.
Noticing what the underlying message might be that gets delivered to staff if we keep focusing on that?
Maybe…I don’t have a lot of faith in your ability to process and build on all the kick-butt strength you’ve gained this year.
Maybe… I’m doing a little doubting here on your ability to adapt, modify and keep truckin.
I guess what I want to say is that staff (and anyone for that matter) can always handle a belief in their ability and an acknowledgment of their strengths.
At times they can’t see it in themselves until someone in a leading position points it out.
That’s us.
We have learned so much this year that we really don’t need to rally back but rally forward.
That begins with expecting staff to join us on this journey.
I think it boils down to what mindset we are working from when we set out our expectations for staff and our expectations for ourselves with respect to this pivotal time.
Just something to think about.
