Do you know what a dream-board is?

It is usually a montage of pictures of things that you really want that are cut out from magazines and posted on a board.

This board then serves as a daily reminder of things that you’re shooting for.

A place to see the dreams you want to create.

Some find this a helpful way to focus personal energy in the hopes of keeping on track to making their dreams real.

Might be something to this. I have never tried it, yet lately I have been pondering the concept when it comes to our co-ops.

So, here’s what I want to ask you this week?

Have you done a dream-board of the team you want?

Now, maybe not magazine cut-outs or even on any board.

But have you thought out and pictured to yourself who or what kind of people you want in your boat making this co-op retail journey with you?

Or are you resigned to getting who you get and making the best of it, accepting a backdrop of perceived powerlessness in who you manage as you move on down the road?

I know there are day to day staffing realities we have to deal with; however, moving toward building the team you want, the team that you feel is needed to produce the results your co-op needs, is a fundamental step in the exercise of leadership.

It doesn’t happen without you having a picture of what it would look like.

Some type of sketch in your mind of maybe your dream team.

Once done, you now have your daily reminder of what you’re going for.

Not a roadmap with every detail filled in but your general direction of something you want to create.

This dream board strengthens clarity and provides a sight line as you elevate expectations, provide training and coaching, and uphold with strong accountability.

We all need strong teams in driving results.

Get your dream board going and move forward.

Today’s dreams are tomorrow’s reality.
