Communicate so as to leave no doubt and keep your personal negative emotions out of it.<\/p>\n<p>But this last word &#8211; grace &#8211; what&#8217;s that all about?<\/p>\n<p>To me, grace comes about when we unconditionally accept an employee without judgement and retain good will and affection for them as a fellow human being.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe they&#8217;ve totally crossed the line too many times and you&#8217;re going to fire them.<\/p>\n<p>A grace mindset would be &#8211; I still have regard for you and your right to choose your behaviors and I wish you well.<\/p>\n<p>Having grace in an employee situation has nothing to do with being soft, giving-in, seeking approval or not upholding firm lines.<\/p>\n<p>It means we uphold them with acceptance and respect for all.<\/p>\n<p>It means we don&#8217;t get hung up on prickly, jagged emotions.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t project our &#8220;stuff&#8221; on them.<\/p>\n<p>It means we give from our hearts whether we&#8217;re showing someone the door or showing a new hire around the back room.<\/p>\n<p>We are consistent in our willingness to show grace.<\/p>\n<p>Clarity, Neutrality and Grace,<br \/>\n[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a four word management mantra: Clarity, Neutrality and Grace I think it would be good if we chant these four words often.
